The WII/PS3-story also contains a lesson on how to design superior advertisements: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S8bngWtLDY
But don’t tell anybody you got that from me…

That is hilarious. Thanks for the link Ken

I am sony, no, sorry that SONY has been really injuring its brand in the past few years. I have no interest in PS3, Xbox or Wii, but I still hope that SONY will recapture its Glory Days in the near future.

SO-NO : I used to love Sony, but then one after another with new purchases my equipment failed after a year. Plus all their proprietary software messed things up and wasn’t good. My Japanese version Sony Clie, still runs my Pleco Chinese/English dictionary.

But I never buy Sony anymore. It’s too bad, because they have some excellent designers.

don’t know much about gaming devices, but I agree they have amazing and isolated designers. I lost UX50 Clie a few months back, Clies were great and I loved this form factor, was also running Pleco on it despite appaling battery life (spare UX now gathering dust, I switched Pleco and all to WM5 smartphone). My next camera isn’t going to be Sony either (but Panasonic+Leica:-) and memory sticks will be a sunk cost.
That seems to be the Way of Sony, design, production, marketing not talking to each other, useability or community being just empty words, not taking customer feedback into account

Being a one time avid gamer, I payed attention to the strong arm tactics SONY enforced in regards to their PS2 with retailers. Microsoft made a good move in launching early, despite the initial problems they had with overheating. Sony, if not careful, are going to completely alienate their base like SEGA did with their last console offerings.

Bluray.. can we say Beta anyone?

As far as electronics go, I have similar experiences as Goulnik. In addition, having to deal with their customer service hoops is also a chore I utterly refuse to partake in ever again.

Great link by the way. :)

You would think that with the PSP it was perfect to watch music videos that you could buy and download. They could have set up a store like iTunes and they have a massive music catalogue they could have exploited (not to mention a movie catalogue).

But yet again they were too chicken and I guess were worried about copyright issues. Those who own a PSP will know that you have to create the directory for video files yourself and then find some software on the internet to convert video files into the correct format. There’s nothing in the manual about watching videos but they put this facility in it. I would much prefer to watch video on the PSP instead of the ipod as the screen is much bigger but they missed a trick.
