Learning Spanish through podcasts

February 1st, 2007

Here’s an article from a couple of weeks ago that offers insight in to podcasting and the Spanish market. There isn’t much out there. Coffeebreak Spanish surged to the top of the iTunes educational podcasts listings in the last few weeks. I guess this points to an interest and indeed a market for Spanish in our format.

The article also says:

Gone are the days of pricey foreign language textbooks and lengthy lectures. All it takes is a high-speed Internet connection to download lessons and listen to them on a computer or a portable MP3 player.

Er, maybe.

Chinesepod is an incredible resource, and there is no equivalent right now for Spanish. After finding Chinesepod I did searches to see if there were similar sites for Spanish, and what I found was woefully lacking in content. Chinesepod is structured around user requirements and contains content that the user can apply immediately. I really recommend anyone who wants to learn Spanish keep an eye on this website and give the podcasts a try.
