Great idea. I would love to see Spanishpod. The layout of Chinesepod is fantastic and very friendly. I'm a native English speaker with NO background / knowledge of Spanish at all. I think Newbie should be like that for Chinesepod, ie. for Newbies with heaps of simple words / phrases. Pronounciation tips and grammar I reckon are essential for learning any language and should be dealt with in Spanishpod.

I can't wait for the Spanish Pod.
The thing that really is exciting for me is that it's going to have Latin American hosts. All the other Spanish podcasts have hosts from Spain, and I really don't like the accent too much.
If it's anything like Chinespod, you can bet it's going to be awesome!

well i dont want to break through ken's business plans, but there is already a kind of cpodstyle spanishpod it's called notes in spanish and can be found on www.notesinspanish.com.

1 negative point is that there are only intermediate and advanced lessons available. However, all people who can speak a roman language can easily catch up with that. For the rest i just suggest that they buy other beginners material or that they build up their basic spanish by the spanish fsi course. Which is free available on the internet: http://fsi-language-courses.com/.

Personally i hope that ken will start to produce cantonese or korean podcasts :). Coz I'm pretty much done with mandarin chinese. Chinesepod doesn't have to create more material than it has got now. With the currently available material you can become quite fluent. I mean the course traject just stops at a certain point. There is always just a stage that you have to try to get into the real world of the language you are pointing at. That means that you have to make chinese friends, chat with chinese ppl and watch chinese movies etc.

Personally I would like to see a mandarin chinese course booklet created by chinesepod. If they won't make it by themselves I'll make it :D.

Great news guys!

I'm currently learning Spanish and Mandarin simultaneously, so it's like you read my mind.

Let me know if I can do anything to help. My area of expertise is at doing really tedious stuff - a glowing CV of doing jobs out of hell!

I think it's a great idea for you to start producing Spanish podcasts as well and look forward to brushing up on my incredibly basic Spanish when it starts. I travelled around Mexico and Central America for a couple of months last year and found the accents noticeably different in each country. When I was in El Salvador I could hardly understand anyone yet when I crossed the border into Nicaragua the accent was much clearer.

Even though I live in England and Spain is only a couple of hours away I would still prefer to learn Latin American Spanish as it's spoken by far more people. Seeing as you're probably going after the USA market this is for the best anyway.

I'd like to put in another vote for Arabic though. After Mandarin and Spanish I think it is the most important language to learn and it's very poetic. I think there is a big market out there for a quality Arabic podcast. It's either that or I'm off to Yemen for a couple of months to learn lol!

Spanish podcasts will be fun.. I live with a Puerto Rican housemate and my boss is Mexican-heritage, so I'm looking forward to it. My Spanish is rough at best and my husband knows a little because his mom (who's Taiwanese) took Spanish at one point when he was in high school and he picked up a little, but mostly in weird ways.. like she'd tell him to take out the trash by pointing at him and yelling "Basura!"

But know that my heart sighs when I think of having a nederlandspod! Ik ook, Joeri! Ik ook!

That is such a great idea! I am studying Chinese but I used to study Spanish in high school and that would definitely be the best way to brush up on my Spanish!

By the way, teaching only Castellano seems to be the best option to me, since it is possible to communicate in all the Spanish-speaking countries using Castellano. However, the same cannot be said for Catalan or other Spanish dialects...

Anyway, this is exciting news, can't wait for the webpage to be created!!

By the way, since I've started listening to the podcasts, my Chinese is getting better by the day - thank you so much for that!
