One year ago today

This blog is one year old this week. I looked back at what we were talking about at that time. Here is one of the earliest posts - About communiction. It concerns Steven Pinker (amongst others). Funny that, one year later - to the day - we’re back to Pinker’s ideas.

And guess who answered my blog post - go see for yourself.

Just began reading Pinker’ book “The language instinct”. Eye-opener. And by far not only for learning a foreign language.

I rather think that Dan Sperber has more interesting things to say about communications, although I do think that Pinker is interesting.

Perhaps just as interesting is this recent Wired article on Face Blindness which provides tantalizing hints on just how hard-wired many aspects of our character is.

WAYBACK machine - It’s the holidays, almost New Year and a little reflection going on here. So I took a little Internet ride to the past and looked at what Cpod used to look like, take a look:

    http://www.archive.org/

It’s like looking at old photo albums and thinking, how could I have worn THOSE clothes, and the hair?! The hair doo.

There was one little component in that old Cpod site which I think would be nice to have back, I don’t think we need such an extended list, but a daily top five would be refreshing. BTW, quite satisfyingly — I know all those words now!

It also would be nice to have a daily five review words, or maybe Connie’s extended vocab in the text/description file of the Cpod casts for viewing on the iPod.
