Wow, congrats on the CNN coverage! I’m a CNN junkie, so I’m not sure how I missed this. Great spot.

Art, that’s a wonderful idea!!! I am going to start packing my bags right now. I’ll see you in Shanghai

Excellent!
Very nice, great to see you all in action…
That’s fantastic! Congratulations on the great coverage! I’d love to know whether or not the exposure translated into web hits and/or new subscribers.
Sweet! The video makes me want to start planning my second trip to China. I want my next visit to Shanghai to coincide with Chinesepod’s monthly coffee event on Saturday. Ken, do you have this monthly event for next year planned out already? Maybe Chinesepod should hold an annual conference for its listeners and work with a travel agency on getting CPod listeners from all over the world to Shanghai. Emma Jackson got to meet Cpod’s Mandarin teacher. I am sure the rest of us would like to do so as well. For me, I hope my Mandarin would have improved a bit more when I drop by for a Cpod visit and I am able to converse in Mandarin with the Cpod staff. Aside from the homework feature that’s coming up, perhaps CPod can conduct an annual exam for its listeners!
Cool.
Bob/Art, Pack your bags indeed. An annual conference is a great idea. (With beers included.)
Frank, The CNN article has brought thosuands of visits so far. I beleive it will remanin on the CNN site for another 5 days or so.
Art, We don’t have monthly meet-ups, though we should. I’ll let you guys know wehen we organize the next one.
I was delighted that Emma Jackon showed up for the interview with CNN. She is so nice and so smart (she works for Google doing web analytics!) You really do get to meet some great people in this job.

Hey all,
Nice interviews, it’s nice to see hard work and having fun hand-in-hand. On a related topic to the annual conference, monthly meet-ups and travel agencies, I’ll be in Shanghai in two weeks for my 3rd trip to China (and 4th to Asia). I’m coming from Ohio and stopping in Hong Kong on the way there and the tickets are costing me about $1650. Can anyone recommend a good travel agency they’ve used that will perhaps get a better price for next time and/or simplify things a bit?
DS
David, can I make a suggestion? Your question is one that many of us could be interested in, but this blog might not be the most appropriate place to recommend (or otherwise) local businesses.
If you’d like to ask it on the poddies’ Forum, we might feel freer to discuss how others have organised their travel, in more detail, and then it’ll be easier for others who need it to find the info later, or to add to it.
Good call AuntySue
Is there any way for CPod to do a deal with CNN to host this video after it gets archived and is no longer freely available? It’s a great advert for CPod and very ably answers the question “What is it?”. The concept of CPod always seems to take some explaining and it’s been so much easier to say “Watch this”.
Cheers,
Al
Al,
That’s a great suggestion. I haven’t priced it yet, but it is possible to buy these videos. I imagine they are very expensive, though. I’ll check it out.

Can’t you just nick it and put it on youtube?
Do news reports have copyright?
Bazza,
Yes, they do. Lots of people just stick CNN clips on Youtunbe, but in fact, it’s CNN property. I think we shopukld do it by hte book!
