What’s his name in Chinese?
Am I the only one or is it really difficult to follow football commentary in Chinese? I watched a couple of World Cup games but was pretty much lost in terms of the commentary. I thought that the context would make it quite easy to understand, but in fact, it seems to be the opposite.
One obvious reason for this is that I just don’t know the football vocab, but another one is the names of the players. The commetators are constantly reeling off those transliterations of the names, some of which have 4 or more syllables. If you don’t know the players, it just sounds chaotic. I lose track of where the names end and comentary starts.
Anyone have the same experience?
Does anyone have any lists of the transliterations of famous players?

A list of general celebrity names in Chinese would be good, but I’ve tried a bit of searching and found none. Maybe Jenny or someone could comply a list of famous people and we could add them to the wiki?
